Gahhh... Time can sure get away from you when the sun is out! There has been SO much going on I don't even know where to begin. I already told you that my nephew Quinn was here from Montana. It didn't seem like we really did anything fun while he was here, but as we sat in McDonalds eating our last meal together I started going over everything we had done during his two-week stay, and I think we had a great time!
We traded in Ruby the big grey mare for Joe the bony old gelding and an ornery white mule that is really a donkey but just as stubborn as a mule. Ruby turned out to be WAY too much horse for us, and I'm always the first to admit when I'm out of my league, so I found a lady who will work with Ruby and help her be all she can be instead of just being out to pasture for the rest of her days. It didn't take me long to find Joe, a twenty-three year old bony brown quarter horse with all of his accessories included for two hundred dollars. So really it was like buying a saddle and getting the horse for free AND a bogo (buy one get one free) donkey thrown in to sweeten the deal. Actually, Snowball is anything but sweet, but she does grow on you. They were both in pretty sorry shape when they got here, but with some good groceries, a little Geritol, and a healthy dose of wormer they seem to be coming around just fine. Joe has a dentist appointment the first part of August and after that his butt should be as big as mine in no time!
Here's Joe...
Speaking of Tina, I already told you that she got her hair and nails done. I think I also told you that her hairdresser made us an offer we couldn't refuse on TWO more llamas, Tropic and Timber. Needless to say, 6 wasn't thrilled, but I figure he'll be over it by January when he gets home.
I also already told you one of our ewes had her lamb! We named her Happy because we were so happy to see her : )
Ok, so to wrap things up with the livestock, I have taken in a few urban roosters. A lot of people who live in town have started raising backyard chickens which is great, but sometimes their hens turn out to be roosters which most neighbors don't think is so great. So what ends up happening is they have to be relocated ASAP and often times they end up being relocated to a stew pot. I guess you could kind of consider me an agent with the rooster relocation/protection agency. I take in roosters on the lamb. Get it? Lamb? Also, don't forget my disdain towards my neighbors and really, nothing says F.U like a bunch of roosters and a handful of donkeys before dawn.
When Kenna was here we she managed to get the pool up! I helped a little bit, well unless you take into consideration moral support in which case I helped ALOT. Kenna is kind of like McGyver, give her some duct tape and she can do anything. Funny, I have quite a few friends like that. Makes me wonder why I ever bothered getting married six times. Hmmm... Must have been for the gifts. Anyway, the pool looks great and what a life saver during our heat spell!
